Can we eat Mangoes during Periods?

When it comes to Periods & blood we shed during it we have numerous beliefs around it! Eating raw & ripe Mangoes are one of them! So let's get into the nuts & bolts of it! Shall we?!!?

1. Where did this come from?

Most likely from the fact that mangoes have "warm tasir". Yes if you're into ayurveda you might have known this since forever or might have hear from your Mom or Grandmom that Fennel seeds have cold properties & on the other hand brinjal has warm properties when consume in moderation! There are also few studies which states that mangoes have hemostatic properties, means when consumed during periods they reduce or eventually stop the blood flow. But, we do not have definite evidence that support the fact.

2. Mango Sap reactions!

Ever observed a clear fluid releases from the stem of the mangoes? Or if you look closely that has already present over the surface. That's called mango sap, it has inflammatory, allergic properties! Now you know the ancient wisdom of soaking the mangoes 15-20 minutes prior consumption not to remove the phytic acid but to remove this to avoid mouth ulcers!

3. Nutrition Properties!

Low in glycemic index, rich in fibres! Rich in water, vitamin A, B, C, zinc and minerals with less than 100 calories lesser than your chai rusk for sure is a perfect blend when you consume in moderation. Just like any other fruits it does wonders when you consume it alone , in proper amount without adding tons of sugar, jaggery, pineapple or papaya juice, sweeteners, Colors or milk. You would have variety of opinions over this but I firmly believe fruits shouldn't be enjoyed along with main meals looking at biiig sugar spike post that and absorbent capacity of a gut. No wonder why mangoes have wrong rap of giving pimples & diabetes! Do you like mangoes too?
