You might be thinking what could be the significance of those 15 day s of the month! Well majority of us still look at those days as headache never ending one , probably for the longest time!
1. The amount you bleed every month going to be different!
You could bleed anywhere around 30-70ml of blood every single month. If you're avid menstrual cup user you can easily measure it looking at the numbers on the surface! If you're not , worry not ๐ An average pad holds upto 5-7 ml of blood depending upon the size & type of pads be it small, large , extra large, with wings , without wings, with charcoal chip, with some magic gel Etc. You can calculate the amount that way!
2. Spotting is considered normal!
There are no typical types of menstruators but for the understanding per se, a woman could her periods as spotting for a day or two & then actual bleeding starts! Or, it starts with an actual flow & spotting on later days gradually it stops! Both are considered normal only. Except, Ongoing spotting for weeks prior periods, spotting for weeks post periods, bleeding >80 ml, bleeding <30 ml
3. Menstrual blood composition is different than body blood!
Yes!! Despite derives from body blood, Menstrual blood contains, Red blood cells aka RBCs, Endometrial, uterine lining cells, Cervical mucus, Vaginal microbes, Shredded epithelial cells from cervix, vagina or vulva, Perspiration & Pubes. Wondering why we don't we use this blood for blood transfusion? (I actually got this question from my patient;) Now you've the answer!
4. It has nothing to do with IMPURITY!
Now that you've all the idea of nuts & bolts of what's in there, you can proudly say it doesn't makes you "Untouchable" during periods! Of course it has bacteria, but so does your mouth , nose, ear, intestinal lining ,Anus and vagina holds! You contain more microbes than your actual cells, they lived in a perfect symbiotic harmony with each other! This is high time you build one with your beliefs!
5. There's no color grading for it!
I know you might have came across endless social media posts for the same showing different grades in terms of what's "healthy color" of period blood! But there's no specifications of the same. Initial bleeding or spotting might start as brown- dark Maron color to tarry red later days! The black spots you see on initial or later days could be because of degeneration of red blood cells and a chemical reaction happens when comes in contact with atmospheric oxygen! Not to forget nasty chemicals on your menstrual products like pads or tampons!
Every single thing you do , be it you eat, sleep, exercise, stress about gonna have effects on your cycles or should I say upto 3 cycles! If you feel any difficulties or require in depth knowledge of the same book consultation with us or if the condition is acute visit doctor in person! Hope that helps!
